INTRODUCTION Essays (2532 words) - Criminal Law,
Presentation Lately, in Canada, we have seen a steady decrease in the crime-percentage. In any case, each day on the radio and on TV, we see and know about another equipped burglary, another rape, another medication bust, or another severe homicide. This is terrifying in light of the fact that it influences all of us. We are largely possible casualties; we are on the whole vulnerable to these unpleasant wrongdoings. Much more startling is that increasingly more of these violations, the fierce ones, include youthful guilty parties. We are hearing increasingly more about youthful guilty parties, youth between the ages of twelve and eighteen, who are wounding individuals on school grounds, explicitly attacking others, and killing their companions. As of late, we heard the account of a little youngster, just six years of age, who killed a kindred cohort in a Michigan grade school. A couple of years back, we knew about the two little youngsters in England who killed a kid who was younger than three years. The managing of opiates on the school ground, be it basic or secondary school, is expanding. Step by step, it appears that individuals from each age bunch are turning out to be casualties, and individuals from each age bunch are turning out to be wrongdoers. In view of room confinements, this paper will manage a couple of youthful wrongdoers issues. Likewise, just a couple of parts of the Young Offenders Act will be managed. Enactment The Young Offenders Act is the government law for youngsters accused of wrongdoings. Preceding April 2, 1984, the Young Offenders Act didn't exist in Canada. Rather, the Juvenile Delinquents Act (which had been utilized since 1908) was utilized to manage youthful guilty parties. The fundamental way of thinking of this last Act was to manage the government assistance of the kid. In April 1984, the Young Offenders Act was established and one of the significant changes that occurred was in the way of thinking used to manage youthful wrongdoers. The Young Offenders Act perceives that in certain circumstances, a youthful wrongdoer might be esteemed (by the preliminary appointed authority) to be past recovery, and a protracted time of detainment may result, instead of further endeavors to restore. Accordingly, the Young Offenders Act bargains with the government assistance of the kid, yet in addition, with the government assistance of society. In this way, with the adjustment in approach, from the old enactment to the upgraded, it very well may be contended that it is presently simpler to detain a youthful guilty party, and for longer timeframes. The Crown Prosecutor should just persuade the preliminary appointed authority that it would be to the greatest advantage of society and that there is no other elective method of managing the youthful guilty party. Furthermore, obviously, a youthful wrongdoer is dependent upon longer times of detainment whenever attempted in grown-up court, instead of being attempted in youth court. For kids who are younger than twelve years, an offense is managed under the territories youngster government assistance laws. Under the previous Juvenile Delinquents Act, just kids under seven were viewed as too youthful to ever be considered criminally liable for their activities. The Young Offenders Act doesn't have any significant bearing to offenses including commonplace resolutions, for example, driving without a permit, chasing unavailable, drinking alcohol while underage, and speeding. AN ALTERNATIVE TO COURT Not every single youthful wrongdoer who submit an offense end up in court. On the off chance that a youngster experiences at no other time been in difficulty with the law, an opportunity to take an interest in an Alternative Measures program might be thought of, instead of a charge being laid and the youthful guilty party managing it in court. The youngster must acknowledge duty regarding the offense that has been submitted and be set up to compensate for the damage caused. As one case of an Alternative Measures program, a youthful guilty party may be required to go to an instructive program to increase a superior comprehension of an inappropriate doing and how it has influenced others. In the other option, he/she may consent to perform network administration. Every now and again, as a feature of an Alternative Measures goals, a youthful guilty party will be requested to apologize to the person in question and perhaps accomplish some work, for example, raking leaves or scooping day o ff, the person in question. COURT DISPOSITIONS There are various condemning decisions open to youth court judges, following a liable request by

Program Plan Learning hypothesis Cognitive learning the subjective hypothesis will assist with concentrating on a noticeable change in mental information. It is about the adjustment in what the student knows about instead of what the individual achieve (Schunk Zimmerman, 2012).The understanding learning just as the idle learning is the two constituent of subjective learning. Under this learning hypothesis situation the staffs will get plans and strategies as opposed to getting propensities. Bradham concocted a new cola drink in the 1890s, his friends enthusiastic response convinced him that he had created a commercially viable product. For 20 years, Doc Bradham prospered from his Pepsi-Cola sales. Eventually, he was faced with a dilemma; the crucial decision he made turned out to be the wrong one and he was forced to sell. But his successors fared no better and it was not until the end of the 1930s that Pepsi-Cola again became profitable. Seventy years later, PepsiCo, Inc. as a mammoth multinational supplier of soft drinks, juices, and snack food. PepsiCos advance to that level was almost entirely the result of its management style and the phenomenal success of its television advertising. Ups and Downs in the Early Years Doc Bradham, like countless other entrepreneurs across the United States, was trying to create a cola drink similar in taste to Coca-Cola, which by 1895 was selling well in every state of the union. On August 28, 1898, at his pharmacy in New Bern, North Carolina, Bradham gave the name Pepsi-Cola to his most popular flavored soda.Formerly known as Brads Drink, the new cola beverage was a syrup of sugar, vanilla, oils, cola nuts, and other flavorings diluted in carbonated water. The enterprising pharmacist followed Coca-Colas method of selling the concentrate to soda fountains; he mixed the syrup in his drugstore, then shipped it in barrels to the contracted fountain operators who added the soda water. He also bottled and sold the drink himself. In 1902 Doc Bradham closed his drugstore to devote his attention t o the thriving new business. The next year, he patented the Pepsi-Cola trademark, ran his first advertisement in a local paper, and moved the bottling and syrup-making operations to a custom-built factory. Almost 20,000 gallons of Pepsi-Cola syrup were produced in 1904. Again following the successful methods of the Coca-Cola Company, Bradham began to establish a network of bottling franchises. Entrepreneurs anxious to enter the increasingly popular soft drink business set themselves up as bottlers and contracted with Bradham to buy his syrup and sell nothing but Pepsi. With little cash outlay, Pepsi-Cola reached a much wider market.Bradhams first two bottling franchises, both in North Carolina, commenced operation in 1905. By 1907, Pepsi-Cola had signed agreements with 40 bottlers; over the next three years, the number grew to 250 and annual production of the syrup exceeded one million gallons. Pepsi-Colas growth continued until World War I, when sugar, then the main ingredient of all flavored sodas, was rationed. Soft drink producers were forced to cut back until sugar rationing ended. The wartime set price of sugar5. 5 cents per poundrocketed after controls were lifted to as much as 26. 5 cents per pound in 1920.Bradham, like his rivals, had to decide whether to halt production and sit tight in the hope that prices would soon drop, or stockpile the precious commodity as a precaution against even higher prices; he chose the latter course. But unfortunately for him the market was saturated by the end of 1920 and sugar prices plunged to a low of two cents per pound. Bradham never recovered. After several abortive attempts to reorganize, only two of the bottling plants remained open. In a last ditch effort, he enlisted the help of Roy C. Megargel, a Wall Street investment banker.

Why People Write? Why People Write ? People write for many reasons. They write to educate, , and to entertain to express their feelings of emotions of joy or sadness, also to preserve history In Maya Angelous story Graduation in Fields of Reading she teaches us about racism in the south in the 1940s. Angelou writes about how schools in the south were segregated. Black students were deprived of resources to enable students to learn. While schools were endowed with all the resources needed for a prominent education. They were going to have the newest microscopes and chemistry equipment for their laboratory.1 Not only does Maya Angelou write about lack of resources in the black schools she also writes that even after the students graduated that they merely going to be carpenter, athletes and entertainers. and our boys ( the girls werent even on it) would try to be Jesse Owenses and Joe Louises.2 Maya Angelou is not the only writer who wrote to educate her readers. Prince Modupe who wrote The Royal African, educated people about his culture, his religion and how power among his people was passed down through women. Prince Modupe tells us about how his courage was tested by the elders by fighting with leopards. this is the way a youths courage was tested by the elders of the community. I am that youth whose courage was tested in hand to hand combat with a leopard.3 Prince Modupe also talks about how everything is passed down through the women from generation to generation. These things consisting of property, rights, and even the succession to the throne. .Our nations system was matriarchal. Grandfather sat the throne because there was no female successor for the office in his mothers familydescended through women.4 Another writer who writes to educate is Martin Luther King . He writes about racism and about non-violence in the United States in the 1960s. King speaks of liberalism and neo-orthodoxy. King says that these two theories are inadequate. Man needs a reason as much as \ he needs God. Liberalism was too sentimental concerning human nature and that it leaned toward a false idealism. On the other hand he says that neo-orthodoxy fell as the mood of anti-rationalism and semi-fundamentalism , ( stressing a narrow biblicism). While I saw neo-orthodoxy as a helpful corrective for a sentimental liberalism, If liberalism was too optimistic neo-orthodoxy was too pessimistic. 5 People also write to entertain, whether it be a funny quote or a full comedy to make people laugh or to keep people interested to continue reading. One Hundred Years of Solitude written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a great example of people writing to entertain. In this story he talks about a person by the name of Arcadio Buendia and a gypsy by the name of Malquiades. Buendia is stated to be not trustworthy of gypsies. But Jose Arcadio Buendia, at that time Did not believe in the honesty of gypsies.6 In One Hundred Years of Solitude. Marquez writes about a man who practically gives up everything he owns to invent things from inventions from the gypsies in which Buendia did not trust. Not only do authors write to entertain and to educate they also write to express feelings of pain or joy. Anne Frank in her diary tells us about her struggls and pains during the Holocaust. Not only do we know that we also feel for the struggle in living in an attic with the rest of her family. Anne Franks also talks about having no friends and the only real friend that she had was a diary, one of the reasons for this is because she says that paper was patient Paper has more patience than people.7 Acceptance Essays

The Oraibi Split essays
The Oraibi Split essays The split of the Third Mesa pueblo, Oraibi, occurred on September 7, 1906. The split immediately changed the lives of roughly 800 inhabitants of Oraibi who represented nearly half of the Hopi population. Those who left Oraibi were forced to start their lives over in a new location. From a long-term perspective, the split is consequential because it led to the establishment of other villages (e.g., Bacavi, Hotevilla, and Kykotsmovi) of Third Mesa that did not exist before the division (Waters 1977: 113). This eventually resulted in different versions of Hopi history and the Oraibi split from each village. Anthropologists have offered many different explanations of the Oraibi fissioning. These various proposals have caused the interpretation and understanding of the division of Oraibi to be very complex. This essay evaluates explanations of four different anthropologists: Mischa Titiev, Richard Bradfield, Richard Clemmer, and Peter Whiteley. Titiev provides the first explanation to consider. Taking all of Titievs arguments together, he suggests that internal social structure pressures and instabilities led to the disintegration of the Oraibi pueblo (Titiev 1992: 48). Titievs analysis of Oraibi disintegration is based on his view of Hopi social structure and social integration. For Titiev, three features of the traditional social structure of Hopi villages, including Oraibi, were essential. The first feature was the organization of Hopi matrilineal descent groups into households, lineages, clans, and phratries (Titiev 1992:51). In Titievs view, Hopi clans were basically autonomous and corporate, owning land, rituals, and kivas. The second feature was the organization of religious societies and kiva groups. The chief priests of religious sodalities were drawn from the descent group that owned a particular religious ceremony (Page 1994: 47). These ceremonies were controlled by a parti...

Ethical and Professional HRM Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Ethical and Professional HRM - Assignment Example Since that time, the organization has faced a number of lawsuits relating to provision of suitable seats which has proven costly due to budgets allocated for litigation matters. This situation means there is need for the organization to develop a framework that would help end complaints by employees based on the issue of suitable seats. I will assume that the employees have made a genuine claim about the working condition being detrimental to their health although there have not been medical any medical case concerning employees of Wal-Mart whose condition has been attributed to the working conditions provided by the organization. Consequently, I will argue that the Wal-Mart should introduce suitable seats to the employees to prevent further complaint that might arise in future. To achieve this, the report is organized into three sections where the first section makes an analysis of the conflict of interest between Wal-Mart and the employees. Second part will analyse available option s to determine what would be the best option to satisfy both the employees and the company. The third part is about which one among the presented options is the best ethical and professional option before making a brief conclusion. A number of organizations have in the past years faced legal suits because of the manner in which they have treated their employees. Class action on seating during working hours is among the areas of conflict between employers and their employees. There has been considerable law suits where employees have complained that they were not provided with seats in their workstations a situation which compromised their health due to being on their feet for long periods of time. A case in example concerns the employees at the giant retailer, Wal-Mart who have gone to court to protest the retailerââ¬â¢s requirements that workers should perform their duties

The Decameron Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
The Decameron - Essay Example The book shows that even the most noble or holy people in title are still prone to sin and vice. Living the best life possible, according to The Decameron, is a personal endeavor which can best be undertaken by fortifying one's mind with tales of the moral shortfalls of others. The story begins with a narrator discussing the various ways in which the people of Florence were coping with the overwhelming death toll and destruction of social order brought about by the bubonic plague. Some people chose to behave "as though each day was to be their last" (16). The narrator notes that "nowadays, laws relating to pleasure are somewhat restrictive, whereas at that timethey were exceptionally lax." In contrast, however, the seven ladies of our story are found "more or less in a circle, in one part of the church, reciting their paternosters" (17). The eldest of the women, Pampinea, determines it is in their best interests to leave town to protect their lives and virtue. She states that the townspeople, "prompted by their appetites, they will do whatever affords them the greatest pleasureIt is not only of lay people I speak, but also of those enclosed in monasteries[that have] given themselves over to carnal pleasures" (18-19) She asks the other six women, "If this b e so (and we plainly perceive that it is), what are we doing here" (19). In this manner, the seven women decided to leave town, asking "three young men of courage and intelligence" to accompany them as "guides and servants" (21). In this manner, the group sets itself apart from the others in Florence that are just interested in fulfilling sinful desires before their imminent demise. Upon arriving at a well-appointed and vacant country villa, the group and their accompanying servants set up camp. To provide entertainment, they decide they will appoint a group leader each day that will determine how they will pass their time (24). For each of the ten days they are in the villa, they end up telling stories - both lighthearted and tragic - that convey different moral shortcomings of men, women and clergy alike. They each usually preface each tale with a comment on how to avoid the same wretched and sinful natures of the people in the stories, thus making the collection of tales a type of instruction manual on the devious temptations one should avoid in life. For instance, the third story on the first day tells the tale of Saladen, a sultan from Egypt, and "a rich Jew, Melchizedek by name." Saladen asks Melchizedek to choose which religion is authentic, the "Jewish, the Saracen, or the Christian" (42). Because Melchizedek wisely sidesteps Saladen's wicked trap, he avoids giving an answer that would lose him money and possibly his life. He states that he could not choose among them, just like he could not choose among three children. Saladen only asked this question because he coveted Melchizedek's money. Because his wisdom and prudence inspired Saladen, the sultan borrowed money from the man instead of entrapping him as he had originally intended ( 43-44). Many stories in The Decameron point out the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church of plague-era Europe. In this manner, the stories show that even church leaders are not without sinful temptation. In the sixth story, a money-hungry friar comes after "people with bulging purseswhom he deemed to be lacking in faith" (50-51). At the end of the story, the money-hungry friar

The Wrath of the Klan Essay Example for Free
The Wrath of the Klan Essay White robes, masks, and conical hats are the definitive appearance of the Ku Klux Klan. Formed post-Civil War, the Klan has stricken fear into many individuals, being Americaââ¬â¢s first true terrorist group. Today, it is still a prominent organization that is trying to be stopped. The KKK is arguably the most infamous organization of all time because of their hate of non-white/Christian people. The Ku Klux Klan originated in 1865. It was created by six Confederate Army veterans in Pulaski, Tennessee to oppose Reconstruction policies and maintain ââ¬Å"white supremacyâ⬠by scaring African Americans (ââ¬Å"The First Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). The Klan quickly spread into most southern states and started its reign of terror on blacks, Republicans, scalawags (white Southerners who interacted with Northerners), and carpetbaggers (Northerners that moved to the South) (ââ¬Å"The First Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). Common acts used by the Klan during that time were lynchings, whippings, rapes, and tar-and-featherings (ââ¬Å"Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). The Klan had a meeting in 1867 to attempt organize itself; General Nathan Bedford became the Grand Wizard in the process (ââ¬Å"The First Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). Despite this meeting, the Dens continued to operate independently and became more and more reckless (ââ¬Å"The First Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). Forrest ordered for the Klan to be disbanded in 1869, saying that the Klan was being perverted from its original honorable and patriotic purposes, becoming injurious instead of subservient to the public peace. (ââ¬Å"Creation of First Klanâ⬠). The first Klan officially ended in 1871, as the government would pass a Force Act to make most of their intimidation tactics federal offenses, thus hindering their actions (ââ¬Å"First KKKâ⬠). The Klan would remain inactive for the next few decades. Indeed, in about four decades, the Klan would rise again. The second Klan was founded in 1915 by William J. Simmons (ââ¬Å"The Second Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). Compared to its previous incarnation, this Klan was much better organized, such as how it recruited members with membership fees (ââ¬Å"The Second Klanâ⬠). This Klan was not just focused on blacks, but Catholics, Jews, and immigrants as well (ââ¬Å"Revival of the Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). Their actions were similar to that of the first Klan, frequently using extreme actions on its enemies (ââ¬Å"The Second Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). This Klan was the biggest of any Klan during its lifespan, with an estimated 4-5 million members at its peak in the mid-1920s (ââ¬Å"The Second Klanâ⬠). However after the Great Depression in 1929, the Klan quickly deteriorated in the 1930s, and by the 1940s it was again finished due to ââ¬Å"internal conflicts, criminal acts done by chapter leaders and external oppositionsâ⬠(ââ¬Å"The Second Klanâ⬠). The Klan was back again during the Civil Rights Movement. During that time, many whites were outraged by the proposed laws of African Americans getting equal rights; therefore, they formed multiple groups throughout the South, calling themselves the Ku Klux Klan (ââ¬Å"The Third Klanâ⬠). Violence of these groups was most notable in Birmingham, Alabama, with them bombing and attacking African Americans schools and white activists (ââ¬Å"The Third Klanâ⬠). One of the more notable bombings is the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church, which killed four children (ââ¬Å"The Third Klanâ⬠). These bombings led to the arrest of multiple members of the Klan (ââ¬Å"The Third Klanâ⬠). Since the 1970s, the Klan has been weakened by events such as court cases and government infiltration (ââ¬Å"Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). To further limit their notoriety, neo-Nazi activity would soon overshadow the Klan by the late 1990s (ââ¬Å"About the Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). In the early 2000s, the immigration rates in some communities increased greatly, creating fear of immigration in many Americans (ââ¬Å"About the Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). To no surprise, the Klan attempted to use this fear to gain publicity and more members, though they ultimately failed. The Klan is still active to this day, numbering between five thousand to eight thousand members. It is split into ââ¬Å"klavernsâ⬠, or small organizations, that are located throughout the United States (ââ¬Å"Present-Day Klansâ⬠). These klaverns have increased ever since the election of Barack Obama as president in 2008, hoping to bring back white supremacy (ââ¬Å"Present-Day Klansâ⬠). Recently, they have been trying to exploit common issues such as gay marriage and crime (ââ¬Å"About the Ku Klux Klanâ⬠). Many people consider their actions to be nothing more than attention-seeking (ââ¬Å"The KKK Historyâ⬠). It is possible that they are waiting for the perfect opportunity to reign supremacy. The Ku Klux Klan will forever live in infamy due to their violent actions. During its existence, the Klan has attacked African Americans, Jews, immigrants, homosexuals, and Catholics. Although it will never be as big as it was in the previous years, many people still fear this dangerous group. Small children have trouble sleeping at night in thought of the Ku Klux Klanââ¬â¢s terrifying actions.

Epic of Beowulf Essay - Prosody of Beowulf -- Epic Beowulf essays
Prosody of Beowulfà à à à à à à The prosody of Beowulf is the art of Old English versification, made to be chanted orally, not read silently. Therefore it uses alliteration and accent to achieve the poetic effect which Modern English poetry achieves through the use of poetic feet, each having the same number of syllables and the same pattern of accent (Wilkie 1271). Theory on the prosody of Beowulf is evolving. à In the manuscript version of the poem, alliteration is employed in almost every line (or two half-lines); in most modern translations of the poem this is not so. In lines 4 and 5 of the poem we find: à Oft Scyld Scefing à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à sceapena preatum monegum maegpumà à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à meodo-setla ofteah à The repetition of the ââ¬Å"sâ⬠sound in line 4 and of the ââ¬Å"mâ⬠sound in line 5 illustrate alliteration, and this occurs throughout the poem, providing to the listener an aesthetic sense ofà rightness or pleasure. In 1958 two language scholars, Lehmann nd Tabusa, produced an alphabetized list of every alliterated word in the poem. One translator, Kevin Crossley-Holland, in his rendition of the poem in Literature of the Western World, actually includes considerable alliteration (Wilkie 1271). The Old English poet would ââ¬Å"tieâ⬠the two half-lines together by their stressed alliteration (Chickering 4). The first half-line is called the on-verse, which is followed by the off-verse. Each line of poetry ideally contains four principal stresses, two on each side of a strong medial caesura, or pause, and a variable number of less-heavily stressed or unstressed ones. ââ¬Å"At least one of the two stressed words in the first half-line, and usually both of them, b egin with the same sound as t... ...ed by Joseph F. The Utilization of Moringa Oleifera (Malunggay)
Rising energy prices and environmental problems led to the increase in alcohol demands in many aspects, like in making fuels. Many people are doing researches about making their own product so as to lessen their everyday expenses. Right now, Filipino scientists are in think of the search for alternative fuels, with the experts from the University of the Philippines in both Diliman and Los Banos campuses searching all over the archipelago for energy sources from the forests to the bottom of the sea, from enzymes to fungi and other microorganisms. So, the researcher came up of using the malunggay leaves extract as source of ethanol since based on the study done by Senator Loren Legarda, the extracts obtained from the leaves of malunggay plant is 80% ethanol, which is used for fuels. This study knew the possibility of ethanol from malunggay leaves extract. First, the researcher gathered the needed the raw material, the malunggay leaves. It weighted . 75 kilogram. Then, through the process of grinding and filtration, 700mL of malunggay leaves extract was produced. The extract was fermented after with the aid of live yeast for a period of six weeks. The fermented extracts was then distilled using the simple distilling apparatus and the researcher obtained 60 mL ethanol. The ethanol was then brought to the Philippine Institute of Pure and Applied Chemistry (PIPAC) to know its ethanol content. Based on the testing done, only . 5% of the volume of the product is ethanol. After the testing, the intrinsic properties were computed. Using the formula for density, D=mass/volume, 47. 4 g/ml was obtained. For the specific gravity, the formula SG=density of the liquid/density of water, and . 79 was obtained.

Odysseus is a bad leader - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 661 Downloads: 9 Date added: 2019/07/30 Category People Essay Level High school Tags: Odysseus Essay Did you like this example? Today, when most people think of a good leader, they think of a person who has courage, is brave, and they would sacrifice their own life for anyone. In ancient Greece, a hero is a person, who is very clever, is cruel, and someone who believes they are above all the gods. The epic poem The Odyssey is written by Homer and takes place in ancient Greece 700 B.C. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Odysseus is a bad leader" essay for you Create order The Odyssey is about a man named Odysseus and his ten-year journey to get home with his men after losing the Trojan war. Over the course his ten-year journey, Odysseus faces many obstacles including mythical creatures. In the meantime, while Odysseus is gone his wife Penelope has many people who want to marry her because people think Odysseus is dead. Also, they want to marry Penelope because they want to inherit his fortune and his kingdom. As a result of the poem, Odysseus has the ability to be a very good leader, but it is pretty clear Odysseus is a bad leader. Odysseus is a terrible leader because he is hubris, does not have good communication skills, and makes horrible decisions. To begin, Odysseus is a hubris person and it greatly impacts his leadership skills. Hubris is when a person thinks they have more power than the gods and has pride in themselves. Hubris is a good thing unless it turns into arrogance like Odysseus. Odysseus is hubris when he won the battle of Troy. Odysseus does not give a sacrifice to the gods for helping the Greeks win the victory. This is very arrogant and prideful of him. As stated, by the poem Then I urge them to cut and run, see sail but would they listen? Not those munitions fools. Too much wine to swill, too many sheep to slaughter. He blames the whole situation on his crew and takes no blame. For this reason, Odysseus shows pride because he thinks that he is perfect and could never do anything wrong. Odysseus being hubris ends up causing him and his crew problems. Therefore, Odysseus hubris because he would not take the blame when it was his fault. Next, Odysseus has bad communication skills. Odysseus should have good communi cation skills so he can communicate well with his men and gain their trust. However, Odysseus has bad communication skills. When Odysseus fell asleep his men open the bag thinking it is gold and silver. They open the bag of winds. According to the story Down to the ship, Eurylochus came running to cry alarm, foul magic doomed his men! If Odysseus would have told his men the bag contained winds then they would not have opened it. As a result, they blew farther away from their destination. This proves Odysseus has bad communication skill. Since Odysseus does not have good communication skill, he is a bad leader. Lastly, Odysseus makes poor decisions. Making good decisions is the most beneficial part of a good leader. In everyday life, you are constantly making decisions all day long. Odysseus makes many poor decisions which was a cause for him to become a terrible leader. One situation was when they explored a cave and tried to steal cattle and cheese. Polyphemus returned and trapped Odysseus Men. Before Polyphemus was drunk Odysseus gives him his name and poked Polyphemus eye out to free his men. According to the poem Heating the end of the pole until it was glowing red, we ran it toward the Cyclops like a battering ram, aiming it for his eye and driving it deep. The thing sizzled as hot metal dropped in water while I twisted it like an auger. This poor decision he makes caused some of his men die. Also, the men were trying to convince him to go back. All good leaders listen, but Odysseus did not because he is a bad leader. In other words, this example shows Odysseus is a terrible leader because he makes horrible decisions.

Buddhism, Religion, And Religion - 1155 Words
Many wars have been fought based on religion. Countless Disputes, debates, and lives. But, there is one religion that doesn t concern wars, or even violence. Buddhism. The question buddhism, is it a religion a philosophy has been raised so many times before, Indeed, Buddhism can be seen within an open secret of the past two decades, in which it s played no small part: namely, more and more people are finding personal connection to the sacred, lifted up out of and beyond the Sunday pews, made real for themselves in daily life. Sometimes this is called ââ¬Å"spiritualityâ⬠as distinct from ââ¬Å"religion.â⬠Yet is there a free-floating spirituality without some kind of container? Somehow the matrix of the Buddhaââ¬â¢s teachings have remained intact for two and half millennia, to which we can thank the vehicle known as religion. It is true that there is no all-powerful being in Buddhism. This definition of religion, though, is rather Judeo-Christian-Islamic centric. To presume that a religion has a god or gods that are similar to those historically seen in the large monotheistic religions is to make that the standard. It is not a universal definition. Other definitions focus more on belief and faith, which are certainly present in Buddhism, starting with the foundation that there has been a historical Buddha who has reached enlightenment. What is more important, though, is what practitioners consider Buddhism. What did the High Court have to say about the dominant message approach? 8. What did the High Court say about the assumed level of knowledge in TPGs target audience? 9. Is an intention to mislead essential for advertising to be misleading? Explain what the High Court thought about this. 10. If you were employed in the marketing section of an internet service provider or a fitness centre which was about to launch an advertising campaign promoting an attractive plan for membership in which there were several parts (costs and benefits) to be taken into account by potential customers, what advice would you give about the format of the advertising, based on your understanding of the High Courts ruling in ACCC v TPG? Answers: The nature of TPGs advertising that caused ACCC to commence the proceedings The TPG Internet Pty Ltd ("TPG") was involved in a multimedia advertising campaign where they primarily indulged in an offer to the consumers of giving an attractive price for ADSL2+ service. The service was basically involved in using the home telephone of the consumer to give a broadband service without any download data limit. 1. The advertisement prominently displayed that the company would supply a internet ADSL2+ service for $29.99 per month. 2. The advertisement in an ambiguous and less clearly stated that the offer was available when bundled with home telephone provided by TPG for $30.00 per month. 3. Additionally, the consumers also were required to pay a setup fee of $129.95 and a deposit of $20.00 for telephone charges. 4. These advertisements were considered misleading and deceptive by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. The Statutory Provisions contravened by the company A number of statutory provisions were considered to be contravened by the TPG Company. 1. Section 52 of the Trade Practices Act 1974, was contravened which stated that in trade or commerce no corporation should engage in conduct that is misleading or deceptive. 2. Section 53 of the Trade Practices Act 1974, was contravened which stated that no corporation is permitted to make false or misleading representation regarding the price of goods or the exclusion or effect of any condition, warranty or guarantee or any right. The findings of the Primary Judge 1. With regard to the bundling condition, the primary judge stated that the condition needed to be more clear and prominent in order to clear the misleading impression in the message. He further stated that since the target audience was the first time users it was likely that they would rely on the dominant message of the advertisement hence creating a misleading impression. 2. With regard to the setup fees the primary judge stated that the advertisements did not specify clearly the further fees that were required in the broadband service. 3. Regarding the single price, the primary judge opined that in accordance to the section 53C (1) (c) of the TPA, the single price of $509.89 was not prominent in the advertisement. The differences in principle between the approach of the Full Court and the approach of the primary judge The judgment of the Full Court differed significantly from the approach of the primary judge in this case. In contrast to the decision of the primary judge the Full Court held a different view with regard to the dominant message given in the advertisements. 1. The court held that the messages assisted in determining whether they were to be considered to be misleading. Nevertheless, the conduct that is being complained of comprises of a number of words and according to the opinion of the court it would not be right to select some words and ignore the rest since they give meaning to those words. 2. The Full Court further disagreed with the view of the primary judge and stated that the advertisements were not misleading since the bundling condition cannot be missed by viewing it perfunctorily. Further it was stated that any reasonable and ordinary man would make an idea that the services that is offered would come as a bundle. The High Courts opinion of the approach taken by the Full Court 1. The opinion of the High Court was that the Full Court had erred in the judgment by holding the primary judge wrong. With regard to the dominant message given in the advertisements, the message is extremely crucial. 2. The High Court stated that the statements of the Full Court with regard to the opinion of the CJ Gibbs in the case of Puxu were not decisive and not appropriately applicable in accordance to the circumstances of the case. 3. The High Court further stated that the Full Court also further erred as it did not appreciate the advertisement tendency of the company was neutralized by the attribution of the knowledge of the Court with regard to the target audience about the services of ADSL2+ being offered as a bundle. Puxu was not a proper precedent to apply to the TPG advertising according to the High Court In the case of Puxu, the claim on misleading conduct depended on the selling of goods by the appellant that was virtually identical to the ones sold by the respondent. 1. The High Court did not accept this precedent as proper since primarily the target audiences were not potential purchasers with a focus on the subject matter if the purchase. 2. Further it was opined by the High Court that the Full Court failed to identify the advertisement tendency was to mislead by asking whether they were appropriate to bring into negotiation with TPG rather than with one of the competitors based on the belief on the general trust of the message. 3. The High Court further stated that the case was not regarding the tendency of the TPG's advertisements to mislead the customers arising due to the disposition of the target audience that is independent of the conduct of TPG in order to follow closely the wordings in the advertisements. The approach of the High Court regarding the dominant message With regard to the dominant message the High Court stated that the primary issue in the given case is not whether the advertisement fine print was enough to dismiss the dominant message that is conveyed in the headline. Instead the High Court stated that the question was related to the ordinary or the possible consumers of the internet services. The essential question was that whether these potential consumers who are looking at the whole advertisement with a clear mind would probably form an impression of what was being advertised was a separate broadband internet service for a separate price of $29.99 per month. The assumed level of knowledge in TPGs target audience With regard to the assumed level of knowledge of the target audience the High court opinion was similar to the opinion of the primary judge. 1. The opinion of the High Court was that even though the users of ADSL2+ were more knowledgeable about these services the 1+ users were not that knowledgeable to that extent. 2. Further this also did not imply that the ordinary or reasonable consumer will have that amount of knowledge. According to the High Court is intention essential for the advertising to be misleading 1. With regard to the intention of the company to mislead the High Court opined that the intention to mislead is not considered as an element of the contravention charges against the company. Also there is not suggestion of such intention in this case. 2. Nevertheless, the High Court also states that there is no argument regarding the fact that the company did have an intention to create an impression in the mind of the potential consumers about the attractiveness of the offer. Advise based on the understanding of the High Court ruling After the ruling of the High Court in the given case, the probable advice to be given for the advertising format is that when preparing an advertisement it is necessary to make prominent and clear all the clauses of the services in the advertisement. All offers and payment information should be given equal weight age in order to avoid any deception.

This again is an example of emotion. The act of eloping seems to be done when the two are in the heat of passion. Again Othello has let his emotions get the best of him. In Shakespeare's Othello, there are many examples of mistakes made because of raw emotions. Othello has many faults that are shown throughout the course of the novel. Although Othello seems to have many of these faults his major fault is that he lets his emotions get the best of him. Shakespeare explores the way that emotions get the best of people in his play.
